About

My name is Carolyn Brady, and flowers make me happy.

I didn’t start out as a florist… actually, I am a left brained, analytical, accounting professional who somehow found a creative outlet in gardening and floral design.  I buy flowers, plant flowers, grow flowers, cut flowers, arrange flowers, give flowers.

I’m in the garden as much as possible.  I plant and mulch and weed and plant some more… always wondering exactly where I will put the next bed of flowers – but I need them.  They are so amazing, and beautiful.  I am blown away by the unique shape, form and texture of every blossom and leaf.  The vast and brilliant color palette lifts my mood, brightens my day and brings joy to my heart.

I started taking classes and arranging flowers more and more, for friends and family. I’ve done parties, church events, showers, company picnics and weddings.  The sourcing of flowers became a significant obstacle.  Local grocery stores were hit-and-miss, with often disappointing quality and color selection.  Online sources were crazy expensive.  Wholesalers don’t sell to the public or have minimum quantities that don’t work for small jobs.  Even my ever-expanding home garden on our one-acre lot in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania, wasn’t enough to solve my resource dilemma.  So, in 2017, after much thought and planning, with the encouragement of friends and family, I formalized my business and started Joyful Fields Floral Designs.

The name of my business comes from Psalm 96.   “Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; Let the sea roar, and all its fullness; Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it.  Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the LORD.  Psalm 96:11-12 NKJV.”  In these verses, nature is declaring God’s goodness.  To me, flowers are a gift from above, one of the extravagant ways God lavishes me with love and grace.  I hope that my designs, with just a little touch from my garden tucked inside, will bring you the same joy I feel, as we celebrate life with flowers.
